Installation of plugins

Plugins are 8BF format files. Install the 8BF files in the plug-ins or plugins path of the host application i.e. c:\program files\adobe\adobe photoshop CS5\plug-ins or CS4, CS3 CS2 etc. For PSP X4 X3 X2 etc, check out the file > preferences > file locations > plug-ins folder and place the plugins in that folder. Once installed, re-start your graphic application (such as Photoshop, Photo-Paint etc) and access the plugins via the effects / filters / plugins menu.

Accessing the plugins

The plugins will appear in the plugins or filters menu of the host application (this varies from application to application). The Andrew's plugins are split into a variety of 'AP' (Andrew's Plugins) categories such as blur, color, noise etc. If you are using Photoshop, you can also run the plugins via actions or scripting

Presets

The plugins come with a variety of presets (stored plugin settings). You can use the INI file / presets via the open button on the plugin's dialog. You can also save your own plugin presets to re-use effects at a later time. The presets only save the current settings, if randomization is involved in the plugin's effect the randomization is not saved, the end result might vary from the previous effect

Output options / blend modes

The plugins all come with 100 output options. When you apply the effect, the plugin changes the red / green / blue value of the pixels in the current opened image: the output options allow for an additional change before finalizing the changes to the image. Output options include invert, burn effects, posterization, threshold, frames, tiling and many more. In Photoshop, the output options should not be confused with the fade command where the end result can be further modifed by Photoshop itself or the effect reduced. The plugins also come with a 'blend' button which randomizes the blend option, allowing you to quickly explore the 100 options without going through the entire list of outputs / blend options.

Effects modes

The plugins all come with 'effects mode' where the end result is not the actual end result of the plugin effect but purely the source luminance for a blur, smear, paint / warping / distortion, sepia etc effect. The strength of the effect can also be modified as some of the effect settings can result in some truly extreme imagery.

Post processing

The plugins all come with a 'final stage' processing pass (yes, there is another stage before the image is finally generated!) and this includes an overlay or blend of millions and millions of different color and gradient effects (randomized) into the image output. Use to create subtle color effects or wild and weird color effects in seconds
